Breakers set to announce Michael Fitchett as new assistant coach

So with the departure of head coach Dean Vickerman and promotion of assistant Paul Henare to fill the top job, there remained a vacancy in the coaching setup at the North Shore-based Australian National Basketball League club.

It will soon be announced that former Tall Black, and club high performance manager, Michael Fitchett will step into the role as an assistant coach under Henare for the 2016-17 season and beyond, alongside incumbent Judd Flavell.

Fitchett will also assume the job guiding the club’s academy programme, with former youth division chief Flavell now also coaching the Southland Sharks in the New Zealand NBL.
